Dear Co-Laborers,                                                                                                            October 2004

Springtime is finally settling in but, the temperatures are not warming up much. That is making it difficult for the baptism of Francisco and Andrea They have been waiting for warmer weather, since our only baptistry is an outdoor swimming pool. Brrrr. At times like this, I sure miss the huge warm tropical Carribbean baptistry we had in Colombia.

With summer vacations only a few weeks away, we will soon begin having conflicts with the people of the building where we meet. The swimming pool is just outside the glass doors. It will become a great distraction since they all must pass by the large windows in their swimming suits to get to the pool, not to mention the splashing and loud voices.

We have been driving up and down the streets in the northeast part of Santiago looking for a place to rent for the church. I know that God has a place for us out there somewhere and we will find it at the right moment. I will meet with a lawyer the latter part of October to discuss our corporation papers. She is a Christian who has attended the church on a couple of occasions. I believe that as soon as we are meeting in a more permanent location and can advertise, we’ll begin seeing more growth.

After more than a month of some 25 or more exams, Luz Marina has received good news from her doctors that what was thought to possibly be cancer is benign and will soon be taken care of. She has been under a lot of stress in the last several months with numerous health problems, but the Lord is working them out for her. Manuel’s daughter, Franchesca, is still under constant observation because of an abnormal growth inside of her head, but it has not changed in months.

It is exciting to see Manuel grow in the Lord and use his profession as a tailor to talk with his clients about the change that God has produced in his heart and life. He recently changed shop locations and has befriended a man who owns a dry cleaning business in the same strip mall. Manuel has been able to share the Lord with him through his testimony and then introduced me to Hernán. I just began a Bible study with him after he closes his shop at 9:00 pm. Like I’ve have said before, night studies and services don’t begin until quite late. Last night our midweek prayer meeting ended at 11:00.

I don’t know what the Lord has planned for the situation with Hernán. He has already told me that he is planning to move his business outside of Santiago in November. He is really enthused with what he has learned from the Bible until now. It would be sad for him to leave so soon. Please pray for Hernán and his salvation.

We believe that God is preparing a people in Chile that will one day impact this country for Christ. Please pray with us toward that end.

Chile for Christ,

Larry and Barbara Koehn
