July 1, 2002

April showers still bring May flowers. The showers of blessings from the Mother-Daughter Tea the last of April flowed over into May. On Sunday, May 5th. which is Mother's Day in Spain, we celebrated the day honoring all of our mothers present in the services. A gift was presented to each of them, and not all of those who attended the Mother-Daughter Tea in April were present. However, the seven mothers who came were in a better position spiritually to serve the Lord and their families after the messages of the day .

We continue to have visitors in the services.

Other than some high attendances for the month, we had seven first time visitors, three of which were Señor José Luis Escandel with his wife and daughter, who is the Director of Programming at the radio station where our program "People Need the Lord" is aired three or four times daily. We are only paying for one but Don José, as he is known, airs it free for us at other times during the day as he has openings. They seemed to have enjoyed what they experienced being with us, and have promised to return.

A new church sign on the main road.

The sign company that originally put up a small sign on the highway for us has moved. As a result they were taking down their big sign to put up another one in the area of their new location. When we asked them if they would sell us their space and put up a bigger sign for our church there, they agreed. So we now have a huge sign on the highway advertising "La Iglesia Bautista Montegrande" (The Big Mountain Baptist Church), All the area around the church is called "Montegrande".

There is a big mountain to the south of our church in the mountain range at the base of which, for some 25 miles, there are twelve villages. We are touching three at this time and we hope one day to either have someone from all the villages in our church or have a mission church in enough of them to reach all the people.

Radio program pays off.

Last Sunday we had a couple visit for the first time. The lady listens to the program every morning. Her husband has a physical problem and as the lady admitted, "we have come to the end of our rope, and we have no one to go to except to the Lord". Please pray with us for Juan & Maria.

We also have a young man coming to the services who is from Colombia who heard our radio program and also saw the sign on the highway. Praise the Lord.

Thanks to two of our supporting churches who sent special offerings to us.

THANKS… THANKS… THANKS...
