Greetings from sunny
Arizona..
March 2009
Seems like the virus that I acquired during the holiday season has not
fully left me as yet. I am still suffering, some times more than others,
but it seems that the shingles are still attacking the nerves in my back
and after making several x-rays of my back it was found that I need a
hip replacement also since bone is rubbing on bone. Now, for me to
decide to have that done is another question????
It seems that the economic crunch has effected the Lord's work in many
areas. Some of our people have lost jobs and some have moved away which
have caused our attendance to drop as well as the offerings. However we
have maintained a sweet spirit among our people, and these are people
who want to work. Jo Ann has taken the position of pianist in the church
since the lady, who was the pianist here for years, and her family have
moved away.
Our mission conference in February turned out really great. We had 3
missionary families with us, who did a great job in presenting the need
of their separate fields to our church family. So much so that the goal
for our faith promise offering for the new mission year was $24,000.00
Pretty impressive for a very small rural church! The church still
supports us in our Spanish ministry.
We are having good services with our Spanish speaking folks...They say
they do enjoy so much having a time for singing in Spanish and hearing
the word taught also in their language. We are so thankful for them.
They do encourage us to keep on. Jo Ann did some of our lessons in
Spanish while I missed some services which was the doctor's orders.
These were to ladies only. Lonnie had the opportunity the other day to
witness to several Hispanics, and we pray for them hoping to see them in
church one day. They promise but their promises are not like the Lord's.
Please continue to pray for us and for our people, for our physical
needs, and especially our spiritual needs in the times in which we live.
Thank you all for your continued support of this ministry. Some churches
have already dropped their support to us, and we have not had enough
support to have a full work fund for over a year. We do love and
appreciate all of the churches that have continued our support in these
trying times.
In Calvary's Bonds,
Lonnie and Jo
