August 2008

Greetings,

There is no greater joy than good news.  We have continually requested prayer for our national pastors and the news received from them has been uplifting.  The churches below Quito have experienced growth in souls saved and members beginning to witness and serve.  This is such needed encouragement for our Ecuadorian pastors.  The high mountain churches are struggling but remaining true to the Word.  The sacrifices required from those pastors are made without grumbling.  Please continue to pray for them.

Over the years we have asked for prayer on behalf of Marcelo Monterro who has battled Leukemia for several years.  Marcelo lost his battle to the vicious disease and leaves behind his wife, 3 children, parents and 2 sisters. This is a family of tremendous faith who need our prayers and emotional support.

Thank you for praying for Sandy.  She underwent total hip and bone replacement on July 14th in spite of the many health risks involved.  God graciously brought her through with no complications and her surgeon told all of those awaiting the termination of the surgery that she obviously had a lot of people praying for her.  We rejoiced that he realized the prayer behind her surgery.  I, personally, on behalf of Sandy also want to thank you for your prayers.  Without prayer, the outcome of her surgery could have been entirely different.  She is home and has begun rehabilitation several times a week.  Although she is still in a lot of pain, she says that her pain level has diminished from what she experienced the year before her surgery.  We are so thankful.

Fanny Pillajo was trained in our institutes in Ecuador and she has relocated to Italy where she married Edison Tupiza, an Ecuadorian believer.  We received a call from them and they are holding a Bible study and church service in their small apartment.  They were so excited and they specifically asked for prayer and guidance.  They shared with us that it is extremely difficult to reach people in Rome.  The Catholic Church is so strong there and people are afraid to look elsewhere for spiritual support.  There is a deep darkness in Rome and the people need the light of the Gospel. They need prayer & encouragement.  We sure never dreamed that the results of our ministry would reach Italy.  PTL!!

Join us in praying about a village in Mexico named Acuna.  God appears to be opening up an opportunity for Sandy and I to visit and possibly be able to minister to the people there.  Please pray for the lost of that area that God will put a spiritual hunger in their souls to come and hear the Gospel. We will keep you informed to the possibilities there for us.

Thank you for all of your encouragement, financial help, and prayers.
