There is a
secular musical that contains these lines:
Summertime and the livin’ is easy,
Fish
are jumpin’ and the cotton is high.
Memorial Day for a number of years now has been tagged as the first
fling of summer, and when it’s summertime, it’s vacation time.
Well, summer is upon us, and I don’t expect to have much
leisure time.
If everything falls into place I will be making the trip to
Brazil
on June 8th. Please
pray for the trip and the activities I’ll be involved in during an
eight day stay: dedication
of a new building; a mission conference and a revival.
Presently I’m in the process of removing the rust from my
tongue so that my communication in Portuguese won’t be a strain on my
Brazilian friends’ and loved ones’ ears.
Please be in prayer for these three young men:
Dale Stockburger, Jeff Garza, and Todd Vossen.
Dale feels the Lord is leading him to
Topeka,
Kansas
to start a new work; Jeff is returning to his home state of
Louisiana
(Baton Rouge), and Todd will be going to the state of Vermont. These men will need our
prayers and financial support as they follow God’s leadership.
The headlines of our newspapers and TV cause us to be concerned
about the economic problems in our nation and across the world.
We appreciate the commitment of churches and individuals to pray
and give financially to the needs of our ministry and home missions.
There have been downturns in the economy before and with God’s
help we have weathered the storm. Let’s
be involved together in praying and supporting home missions.
Let’s have our headlines read:
“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in
glory by Christ Jesus”
(Philippians 4:19).
