May 2008
Dear
Friends in Christ,
Someone has said that Psalm 103 is a song of perfect praise,
David’s “Hallelujah Chorus.” This
Psalm celebrates God as the God of circumstance, and magnifies His grace
and mercy.
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget
not all his benefits”
(v. 3). May I paraphrase the
last part of that verse—and forget
not all his blessings. As
Nahum declares, “The LORD is good…” (Nahum 1:7), and we
certainly have a lot of blessings to count.
Daisey and I continue to recover from our surgeries, and we are
grateful for the health God has given us.
I will have my first post-op exam in June, and I ask your prayers
that it will be a good one.
We also rejoice over the blessings on the
work in McGregor, Texas. Since
last September things have really been happening in this new church.
The church held its first Bible Conference with Bro. Wade Copeland,
and the Lord blessed. About
that time they learned about 11.7 acres of land that was available, and in
October they were able to put a contract on the land for $64,000 for ten
years.
The New Year began with a Faith Promise
Mission Conference, Bro. Brian Powers doing the honors.
The people responded greatly to the messages and the missionaries
by taking on 9 new missionaries and home missions.
They now support a total of 14 missionaries.
Not bad for a new church!
In March the church observed Easter with a
special Wednesday through Sunday outreach.
During the week, they had a number of first-time visitors, and hope
to see many of them saved through the preaching of the Word.
On Saturday the church had Shiloh Quartet in concert at the
McGregor High School, and attracted some first-time visitors.
Yes, we have a lot to be thankful for in
the way of “all
His benefits.”
We thank you for your prayers and support.
Unworthily His,
Wendell & Daisey Hiers
