Dear Helpers,
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not
return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it
shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
Through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, we have seen the
lives of our members of Covenant Baptist Church change. Since we
organized the church in December, they have learned what a great
responsibility it is to be leaders in a New Testament, Bible Believing
Baptist Church. One of our ladies had a desire to start a Bible Club in
her home and also be a Sunday School teacher, so she enrolled in the
Child Evangelism Course. In the last two months seven children have come
to know Christ. We praise the Lord for her desire to serve the Lord. The
men have gotten together and have begun construction on new bathrooms
for the church. After this is done, we still need to finish our Sunday
School classrooms. The young people have gotten more involved in special
music and bringing their friends to church. The church continues to
support 4 missionaries. Missionary Raul works with many different Indian
tribes. He is in a very remote area close to the Colombian border. In
June, he will be having a first time Mini Bible Institute. One of our
Local Pastors will be helping him with the teaching. Raul will have to
translate for him as he does not speak the Indian dialect. There are
thousands of Indians who still need to hear the gospel. Raul's brother
would like to come to our Bible Institute. Pray that God will work
things out for him.
The Bible Institute is in its final weeks. We have 3 graduating this
May. Six new students came this trimester. Carlinhos is from a new
church being started 600 miles up the Rio Negro river. His Grandfather
was a witchdoctor that Dad won to the Lord over 50 years ago! Urias is
from the state of Roraima and lives on the border of Brazil and
Venezuela. This young man is from the Macuchi Tribe. Josivaldo is from
the town of Barcelos, about 400 miles up the Rio Negro where a church
was started in the 1960‘s; Josué (Joshua) is from a village along the
Amazon, (His brother graduated last year); two are from churches here in
Manaus. Several of our graduates have come by in the last couple of
months with good reports about their work in the churches. Pray for
those students who will be returning to their home churches during
Institute recess. They will be involved in VBS, evangelistic trips,
church planting, etc.
Souls are being saved and God is still calling men and women to His
harvest. There is still so much to do! So many churches without pastors,
so many areas without a church to preach the Gospel! Continue to pray
with us as we train Brazilians to continue the Great Commission! The
Gospel is still the “power of God unto Salvation”!
In His Service,
