March 2010
Dear Helpers,
“Man…is
of few days, and full of trouble.” (Job 14:1)
“Frail flowers of the field, we must not reckon upon blooming for
ever. There is a time appointed for weakness and sickness, when we shall
have to glorify God by suffering, and not by earnest activity. There is
no single point in which we can hope to escape from the sharp arrows of
affliction; out of our few days there is not one secure from sorrow. The
path of trouble is the way home. Lord, make this thought a pillow for
many a weary head!” C.H. Spurgeon.
Praise the Lord for giving us grace and strength during these
days of sickness.
The Covenant Baptist Church in Manaus continues to grow in Grace and
knowledge. Pastor Joao Lima
is doing a good job of Pastoring. One
of our ladies has enrolled in Bible Institute this semester and is
excited about learning more of God’s Word.
She recently started teaching the Adolescent class in Sunday
School and has felt the need to learn more of God’s word.
The family that went to Chile out of Covenant is okay after the
huge earthquake that hit the country of Chile in February.
Their city was not as hard hit as some.
Pray that God would use this difficult time to help them to be a
witness for Him.
The Instituto
Batista Biblico do Amazonas
started on March 8th for
another trimester. We have
14 students attending this time. There
is one young man graduating in May.
Pray for the Brazilian pastors as they teach and train these
young men to preach the Gospel, start churches and pastor existing
churches. God has blessed
His Word throughout the ministry of the men he has allowed us to help
train in Brazil. God will
always honor His Word!
Thank you so much for continuing to pray for us and support us
financially during this time. Betty
is nearing the end of her Chemo treatments!
The last one is on April the 1st.
She still has to continue her Herceptin anti-body treatments for
the rest of the year every 3 weeks.
This is done intravenously. She
will also begin taking a hormone blocker in April, after the Chemo.
She will have to take the blocker for 5 years as a preventive
measure. Betty will also be
doing reconstructive surgery beginning sometime in April or May.
This will probably take around 6 months to complete.
We are still not sure at this time when or how far we can travel
to visit you and give a report. We
are anxious but are kind of on hold right now!
Please continue to pray for Betty and the Lord’s work in
Brazil.
In His Service,
Tim & Betty
