Dear
Friends and Loved ones:
I
apologize for the delay in getting the news out to you. I have been running
several different ways these days, and time has gotten away from me.
Church:
We have had a few set backs again it seems. We have lost a few young people. I
turned the youth department over to one of the Church leaders, and he has not
done well with them. Rebecca and I have tried to get some of the people in the
church interested in the work, knowing that in one year, we will be leaving on
furlough. The fellow I turned the youth over to is a graduate of the Bible
institute, but as you may know, it takes a certain type of person to be able
to work with young people. Pray that we can iron all this out soon. We had
another bus robbed in front of the church Saturday. I thought we were over
that kind of stuff, but I guess not. Pray for continued safety for our people.
I don’t think that I have ever worked in a place like Campos Sales.
Building:
We have the costs of the building material in our hands now, and we shocked at
the amount of the price of rebar and iron it is going to take to build the
first phase of the building. We have about one third of the funds it is going
to take at the moment, just to build the first half of the building. Thank you
Pastor
Rick Austin, and church for your help, we have already invested your gift in
the building. Pray that we can have the first half of the building done by
next May,
Institute:
We graduated the two men that have been helping us in Campos Sales. I believe
they are going to be a blessing to the church in our absence also. We have six
others who will graduate next semester, so the class room will be a lot
smaller unless we get some new students this next semester and next semester.
We
are going to be teaching in another Bible institute in August, and also
continue to teach in the Parintins institute in August or November again.
Praise the Lord for these schools and the men and women who attend them.
Family:
Our son John III arrived Saturday, he is getting things organized and getting
back into the swing of things here. Pray that the army does not call him. He
has 30 days to settle with them, and we are anxious to see what is going to
happen. He came to teach at ACLIA our school for Mk’s,
but he may end up the Army here. Wouldn’t that be a surprise! Daniel is
enjoying his last summer, and as of May 2007, he will be officially
unemployed. Nick continues in
Wisconsin
.
We
have also been able to get another teacher for ACLIA. This will be a big help
to us, because Rebecca will not have to teach this year. Praise the Lord! I
thought for sure that we were not going to be able to bring her in, but the
Lord must have pulled some strings for us!
We
thank each and every one of you for your continued prayers and support. We
thank the Lord for letting us be a part of His wonderful plan here in
Brazil
.
Thank you!
His
for Brasil
John. Rebecca, John III, and Daniel Hawkins
