Dear All: February 2007 Ps 18:49 "Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, 0 LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name." It has been one month since we have heard anything from the government agency that was planning to build a school on the Church property. There are several rumors we have heard, but we cannot confirm any of them, and the government is not providing us with any information as of yet. Let me tell you what the word is that we have heard. First, there were elections in October, and the newly elected took office on the first of January. It has been said that the newly elected have discarded the idea of building a school where planned. This is good news. Second; the lady called "Dna. Raimunda" (from the Catholic Church), who was behind the committee to take our land, has been asked to step down. She has been told to resign or be impeached in May. I was visiting an unsaved man and his wife in the bairro last week, and the man said "that's what she deserves for messing with the church". I am not sure what any of us "deserve", but we always reap what we sow. The church just finished a five day Vacation Bible School for children 0 to 14 years old. We began on Tuesday and ended on Saturday morning. On Tuesday we had 65 and ended on Saturday with 140. The men and the ladies from the church pitched in and helped every day, and we thank the Lord for their sacrifice and willingness to do the work. We have reached new families through these children, and new doors of witness have been opened and we pray that the Lord will see fit to work in the lives of some new people here in the bairro. Rebecca did a wonderful job planning the program, and the ladies of the church learned many things about how to do this sort of program. These experiences will help them in the future, and especially while we are on furlough. The Church continues to grow slowly. We are now running around 60 in Sunday school, and even our Thursday night service have come up in attendance. It seems like the Lord has put a lot of people in our way who have been hurt by wrong doctrine and religion. I am amazed at the power that Gods word has over man, and how it can take a confused and defeated soul and make him a loyal servant. Camp will be held the 16th through the 20th this year. That is when "Carnaval" is celebrated. We are sending 9 campers to the "Island". The youth camp we have is an Island about 40 miles up the river. It is interesting to note that most of the kids here in Manaus, do not know how to swim, paddle a canoe or know anything about the jungle! Imagine that, living so close to the largest river in the world and not knowing how to swim. Bible institute begins on the 5th of March, and we are getting everything ready for three months of teaching, and everything else that goes along with it. We will probably only have three single students and 3 families living on campus here, and are expecting some 30 students. We will see how many show up on the 5th. I am not sure if I will make it to Parintins to the Bible institute down there this semester. I am running out of time, and funds, seeing that we are going back to the USA in late May. At the moment I still do not know what to do, but only have a few weeks to decide. Rebecca and I will be available for meetings beginning in August. If you would like us to come by at a specific date, please let me know, I have already begun to schedule some conferences and meetings. Thank you once again for your prayers and continued financial support. Our ministry here has been blessed and multiplied because of it. Lord bless.
