BRAD and RONDA HASTINGS
WBF Missionaries to the
NATIVE AMERICANS
July 7, 2008
Dear Friends in Christ,
My how the time has flown! It seems like just
yesterday that we were leaving New Zealand. The Lord has been good to us
to help us settle so quickly in Grants. That's not to say that
everything is out of the boxes yet, but we have certainly made a good
attempt.
The Indian work is progressing nicely. We consider the first
Sunday in May to have been our official start, although I began
preaching on April 20. I can honestly say that it is a challenge. We
have already begun to see some of the Navajo from the reservation
visiting in our services. The challenge will be to get them in the
services on a regular basis. It seems, they like so many, have other
things to do on Sundays, but we are not discouraged. Each Wednesday
evening we gather and pray that God will convict their hearts about
serving Him and being faithful to His house.
The first week of June we had a group of nine visit from the First
Baptist Church in Kimball, NE. They came to work on the property and
made good progress tidying it up. It has really helped the appearance.
One of the Indians from the Haystack Reservation stopped by and told me
he didn't know that the church was still open. I assured him that we
were and he and his wife visited a few weeks later on Wednesday evening.
In August we have another group visiting from our home church,
Grace Baptist Tabernacle in Fort Scott, KS. They plan to rebuild the
porch and hopefully paint the building.
We know that there is a lot of work to be done here and we are
confident that God has great things planned. He is just looking for
willing servants to go and willing servants to pray. We trust that you
will keep us in your prayers.
Good reports continue to come from New Zealand. Anchor Baptist
Church is progressing nicely under the leadership of Pastor Shannon. We
are so pleased that God allowed us to plant this work and that He
provided ample leadership to continue the work.
In closing, thank you all for your support as we changed
ministries. We firmly believe that God orchestrated this move as He has
opened doors and provided peace in each step that we have made. It is
amazing what He can do when we learn to trust Him. May He continue to
bless and guide you.
Sincerely,
Bradley Hastings
PS: A "Special Thanks" to
those who have already sent funds to help with our four-wheel drive
vehicle. Because of your gift, we've been able to purchase a 2006 Jeep
Commander for the work! Any additional help with the cost would still be
much appreciated.
