NATIVE AMERICANS

April 2009

Dear Friends in Christ,
The first quarter of 2009 has been extremely busy for us here in New Mexico with both work and travel.
By now, most know that our middle daughter, Jodell Powers, had breast cancer surgery the first week of March.  This came at us out of the blue, but praise the Lord the cancer was contained and the surgery was a success.  Jodell is making good progress and now just looks forward to reconstructive surgery in the weeks to come.  Thank you all for your prayers because we know that our God did answer them.
As to our work among the Native Americans, we are pleased that after months of visitation on the reservation we’re now picking up some of the Navajo teenagers for church.  This is a great victory and an indication that we are beginning to win the confidence of those to whom we minister.  It’s also a sign that the Lord is still working to help us win the battle.  We believe that in the weeks to come we’ll begin to see these young women coming to trust Jesus Christ as Saviour and that their families will begin to attend as well.  This past Sunday night we showed a Christian film and had four of the girls in the service.  We know that there are many more who will be attending in the coming weeks.
On March 17 I had the privilege of leading my next door neighbor, Socorro, to the Lord.  She was in the ICU unit of our local hospital suffering with some serious heart problems.  There in her room, across from the nurses’ station, she bowed her head and accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour.  Afterwards, I was able to share verses with her dealing with eternal security.  This was a concept that she’d never heard before in the church that she grew up in.  Socorro is now home and though she is still weak, she is making good progress.  She said that when she is able to get out she would like to come to our services and hear me preach.  We would ask that you pray for her husband, Leo, that he too might come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Thank you again for your faithfulness is supporting us both in prayer and finances.  We are well aware that we could not do what we are doing without your intercession.  We pray that our Lord will bless you richly for having a part in our ministry among the Native Americans.

Sincerely,
Bradley & Ronda Hastings
