Dear
Friends,
January 2010
I hope that your Christmas season was as special as mine. This year the Lord
allowed me to do things that I had never done before which made this year a very
blessed and special time. I always enjoy sharing the Gospel by telling of God's
special gift to the world which through faith may be received. The Mount Hebron
Baptist Church has a rescue ministry for the homeless. The Lord provided for my
needs so that I could share with the less fortunate. With the help of two ladies
we bought, cooked and served a Christmas meal following the Sunday morning
service.
Another special blessing
was that of spending Christmas not only with my Christian family in Monterrey
but with my former church family in Torreon, Coahuila as well. I have been
acquainted with the pastor and his family ever since I came to the mission
field. They were also acquainted with my family who back then were able to make
frequent visits to the mission field. Of course as time passes we have all aged
and their children whom I saw as babies are now grown and one has given them a
grandchild. Please remember the Moreno family in your prayers as they are still
grieving from the loss of the pastor's mother.
At the church here in
Monterrey we had a New Year's Eve service which ended early enough for all to
arrive home before the bullets started flying. After the service I went to
welcome in the New Year with a church family who live just a few blocks away
from my house. We had a great meal and afterward popped firecrackers in the
yard. This year I met new friends as well as enjoying fellowship with old friends.
December was also a very
busy month not only in the church ministry but also in preparing my paperwork
for my FM3 permit. Through the help of Carrie Suhl and Rocio Ortega I finally
have my legal document which will allow me to reside and work as a missionary
here in the country of Mexico. It has to be renewed yearly and re-done every
five years.
Please continue praying
for the soul winning outreach in the Jewish community where we witness and hand
out literature to both Jews and Gentiles. On some days we see little activity
while on other occasions we may make many contacts.
The Mount Hebron Baptist
Church has obtained the necessary permission and are now entering into the local
prison with the gospel. Bible Institute students as well as lay-members are
involved in this ministry. They have seen custodians as well as inmates receive
Christ and some inmates have gone along to win their first soul to the Lord.
Thank You for your
faithfulness in supporting me so that The Word of God may reach the lost in
Monterrey, Mexico.
In Christ,
Betty Hall
