July 2007

In our years with the mission God has allowed us to know and really appreciate some of His choicest servants. Three of these are suffering from serious illnesses and are in need of your intercession at the throne of grace.

Missionary Steve Benedict, (no kin to the pope) from Mexico has suffered a heart attack and is recuperating in his home town of Alpena, Michigan. We at Helping Hands have had the privilege to partner a couple of times with this faithful man of God.

Missionary Les Shaw is an RN working in the rugged mountains of western Honduras near the border with El Salvador. Les is a marvel. At his clinic he sews up nearly severed limbs, delivers babies, pulls teeth and attends to any other emergency that comes up. Les has been stricken with cancer and is recuperating in Arkansas.

Missionary Herb Prince is a prince of a fellow. Diagnosed with cancer he returned to Honduras and to the work. He is being treated there at a local hospital. Herb and Joan opened their home in North Little Rock to us while Wendy and her son Jacob were here for Jacobs heart surgery.

Please pray for these faithful ones, for their works and for their families. I count it a special blessing to have worked with them and to call them friends and co-workers.

The Lord in His wisdom has given Helping Hands some time off. We will be in Honduras in January and again in March. Also there is a possibility of a work team needed in Mozambique, Africa with missionary Alan Hart. More about this later..

Thanks to everyone that sent cards for my 74th . You are a blessing. Also for remembering me in your prayers during a gall bladder attack. I am waiting on the V A to put me on the surgery waiting list.

Our deepest gratitude to all our prayer warriors, supporters and work team partners. Your participation makes our ministry possible.

Your missionaries,

Jim and Dot Foster
