January 2008
"And he is the head of the body, the church; who is the
beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the
preeminence." Colossians 1:18
Back in 1963, my first year at the Bible Baptist Seminary,
our class made the last part of this verse ("that in all things he might
have the preeminence") our motto. It's been more than 45 years and it is still my verse. And, it's good to claim it afresh
and anew at the start of every New Year.
At this writing, my HELPING HANDS wife is in Honduras to
co-host, for the umpteenth time, the Annual Ladies Conference at the camp in La
Esperanza along with Mary Gagnon. Each year Dot recruits other ladies from
anywhere she can. This year Claire White from Wichita Falls, Texas and Melinda
Beavers from Walnut Springs, Texas will accompany her. Pray for this conference.
Each year it's a blessing to see pastors' wives and church workers make their
way across the mountains to learn more about God's Word. Dot, Claire, and Melinda
will return January 22.
After consulting with us, Mike Lane asked us to postpone our January work
camp until sometime in July. Mike is still on furlough but will return to
Honduras in January. There's always lots of "catching-up" to do after
furlough so this will give them time to get resettled.
In our last news letter we shared with you a need to get the
lights installed at the new mission in Honduras. The best estimate was
$1,000.00. So far $760.00 has been supplied. We added the rest from our work
fund and the money has been delivered. Now if the local National Electric
Company will get in gear we should have lights very soon. Our thanks to the
churches that helped with this need. There is fruit that abounds to your
account.
Also, we are very grateful to our supporters for their
faithfulness each month.
We hope to return to Ecuador this summer to finish up the
building in Amaguana.
May God bless you real good in 2008.
