Your Missionaries to Ecuador

September 2002

Dear Praying Friends,

We praise the Lord for the way He has worked in our lives and ministry particularly in the last two months. It is hard to know where to begin so we will start with the thing that is most important which is how God has been touching lives here in Ecuador!  One pastor told us of 24 people coming to know the Lord in their Vacation Bible School.  We loaned a film on Revelation to a pastor and he had 8 come forward for salvation at the close of the film.  In the church we are helping in Quito, we saw two come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ in the last month.  We have also received word from other missions of people being saved and added to the church.  Would you pray with us that these would follow the Lord now and reach out to others?

The camp has been improving each week.  We had to take half of the old roof off and put up a metal structure, which we are in the middle of painting and soon will be putting on the new roof.  God has been so good and so far everything we have done at the camp has been paid for before we ever began doing it.  We also have been able to purchase 10 mattresses at $12.50 (only have 30 more to go).  We have checked on blocks to build a water tank on the campgrounds and found out the blocks are about 18 cents each.  We will buy 2000 as the Lord provides and we have a man that will build the tank as a gift to the camp.  There will be a group of about 20 people coming this week to have a two-day minga (work day) along with services on the grounds.  They say sleeping on the floor will be fine because they want to help prepare the camp for future use. We are seeing interest pick up, especially among the churches that are working with the poor people. Our goal is to make it a camp that anyone can afford to go, which would open it up for our Quichua brethren from the mountain.  We pray God will use it greatly!!!!

September 19 – 21 there were 98 women from our Independent Baptist Churches in Ecuador present for the Ladies’ Retreat.  All shared a wonderful time of fellowship, laughter, tears, burdens, and prayers.  Many new friendships were formed and many comments about how God had worked in their lives and what they had learned.  Thank you for the many prayers that were said on behalf of the missionary wives as they taught and the Ecuadorian women as they attended.  We expect to hear of great results from this retreat in the following months.

Yours For Souls,
