Missionaries to Ecuador

August 2006

 Dear Praying Friends,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!  We share with you the wonderful news that 2 of our neighbors by Camp Chaupisacha have gotten saved.  One is a widow lady who is only about 55 years old but neither reads nor writes. And the other one is her 13 year old son.  We have been praying and working with them for over 4 years and this past week the Holy Spirit spoke to them and they both accepted Christ as their personal Savior.

We are also happy to report that the camp is being used more each month, specially in the summer.  And this leads us to see that we need more bathrooms  as well as a new dorm.  Please pray with us that God will provide the funds for this project and if any of you desire to be a part of this, please come down and help us work.  A few more snakes have been sighted as well as a bear so this makes the outings at camp a bit more challenging and exciting.

The Ladies’ Retreat July 27-29 was well attended with 100 women. Our theme was “A Woman’s Supreme Calling of God” based on Titus 2:3-5.  The lessons touched everyone no matter what the age and seemed to have made a great impact on the ladies.

Victory Baptist Church is continuing to grow and just recently we have had visitors from Chili who are working in Ecuador.  And a special, special blessing is that two weeks ago the pastor’s eldest son, Edmundo Jr., who is 19 years old, asked the church to pray for him because he had surrendered his life to be used of God as a pastor or a missionary.  What a thrill and blessing to hear that from him. Right now he is leading the music part time as well as leading the meeting for the young people of the church.  So please remember him in your prayers - Edmundo (Jr.) Alcívar. God can do great things with this young man who has a humble spirit and a heart for service.

The Sinai Independent Bible Baptist Institute of Cangahua meets again Oct. 1-6 for a week of classes.  The students have been faithful and eager to study.  We anticipate a good week but covet your prayers for this ministry as well.

Yours for Souls,
