Your Missionaries to Ecuador
Ernie and Monoka Brown
July - August 2005
Dear Praying Friends,
We would like to thank you for your prayers during the last month. We have seen various
events take place of which some were great and others not so great. But God is in control and we
thank Him for both. Rom. 8:28-29 is still true. We will share some of those things with you.
First and foremost we would like to thank Faith Baptist Church of Bolivar, Ohio for their
help. This made their third trip to Ecuador and as always they were a blessing. They helped dig
sand out of the mountain, poured cement floors, painted, and constructed beds. They were a
tremendous blessing to the churches where they sang, preached, and testified. The greatest blessing
was when a young lady came forward to accept Christ as her Savior during their last service.
The Ladies' Retreat that took place Sep. 25-27th was very well attended with 137 women
from a number of Independent Baptist churches throughout Ecuador. We had to turn away about
35 women because of not having a big enough facility. Praise God there were 4 ladies saved.
Our Bible Institute is going well. We are praying that the Lord would send more students
our way. We will have another week of classes at the camp Oct. 3- 7. Please pray with us that we
will be a blessing to the students and that they might catch a vision of the lost dying without Christ.
Two things happened this month that we ask you to pray about. (1). Some one stole
Monoka's purse with all of her documents in it. We are now in the process of trying to redo all the
papers. We are working on her Passport, Visa, & driver's license to mention just a few. The bad
thing is that it is time consuming and costly. It will take us until sometime in Oct. to finish
up everything. (2) In September Ernie was towing a cement mixer (loaned to him by a neighbor) to the
church for a work day and a large truck ran into the backend and fled the scene. Within a block he
hit a second car and ran into a brick wall. The last anyone saw of the driver, he was running down
the road. The damage to the machine is close to $1000.00 which we will need to take care of
because in Ecuador there is no insurance to cover this. We have done our part as far as talking to
the police and now we are leaving it in God's hands. Thankfully Monoka and I were not hurt but it
sure messed up our work day.
We ask your prayers for Victory Baptist Church as we are in the process of replacing doors,
putting in a false ceiling, new lights outside and several other projects. We have seen enough
growth that we need to improve things to help make it possible to continue God's work. This is a
step of faith for them and we know God will bless as they serve Him.
Yours for Souls,
Ernie and Monoka Brown
