Your
Missionaries to Ecuador Ernie
and Monoka Brown April
2005 Dear Praying Friends,
We would like to begin this letter by thanking each of you that have been
praying for Ecuador. The month of
April has been a month of many changes here.
We had eight days of political demonstrations, roads being shut down,
tear gas, and many more things that transpired between April 13-20.
On April 20th the President of Ecuador was thrown out of
office. He had disbanded the Supreme Court and put in his hand picked men.
The Congress was divided and very unstable. During this time we never
were in danger but did have to stay away from certain areas.
Now comes the rebuilding part. The former vice-president of Ecuador is
now the new president. Would you pray that God will help stabilize things here
and the right people will be installed into offices?
The Bible Institute in Cangahua went real well.
We were down some as far as students but the spirit was great and the
students were looking forward to studying God’s word.
Each professor was ready to teach and did a great job.
We are praying that we will be able to use the camp for the next set of
classes. We have about 40 people
from the churches that will be coming down in May for a work day at the camp to
help clear the road and clean up after a year of rain and even some land slides.
We were thrilled to see 7 baptized at Iglesia Bautista Independiente la
Victoria. For some of these it is a
big step of faith. They come from a strong Catholic background and will be given
a hard time by their families. Would
you pray that the Lord will bless them for their faithfulness?
One of the national missionaries who has a work 18 hours from where we
are, has asked if I could come down and help with the baptismal service of 10
new brothers and sisters in Christ. At
this time we are in the planning stage as to when we will go.
Also we have been asked to go to the mission in Cangahua.
It will be great to see the brothers again and to see how the Lord is
blessing there. This is a small
work but people are being saved and we pray one day in the future we will see
this mission organized into a church. The
ordination of Bro. Pedro Lincango was a blessing and now the Misión
Bíblica Bautista de San José Alto is an organized church.
We are thrilled to see this come to pass because it was the first mission
we were a part of helping to organize. Received for Jan.
