Dear
Praying Friends,
What blessings God has
given us these last couple of months.
Since our last letter we have had eight students graduate from
"The Book of Life Bible Institute."
It is always a joy to see young men and women prepare
themselves for serving the Lord.
One of the young ladies is in Spain working and she told
Monoka, "I don't know what the Lord has in mind for me but I need
to serve Him where ever I am."
Another student made the statement, "Now we need to put
into practice what we have received from our professors."
We pray that the Lord will use them greatly in His service.
Another blessing is that we
received in the last couple of months an offer to buy a small farm to
use as a camp. It
contains about 15 acres of land and a three-bedroom house.
The owner offered it to us for $6000.00.
The best part was that he said nothing as a down payment and no
interest with one year to pay. We
took a step of faith and accepted the farm.
Now we would like you all to rejoice with us!! Because in less
than 3 months God has given us the $6000.00 in cash to pay for the
farm!!!!
Does God answer prayer?
Would you walk with us through the sequence of buying the farm
for a camp? In January a
man in Ohio began praying that the Lord would make a way for the
churches in Ecuador to have a camp.
He asked several to pray with him about the need of this camp.
We had no idea that he was praying for a camp nor were we looking for
land to construct a camp. One
day a lady asked Monoka, would you all be interested in some land for
a camp? Her answer was
that we would pray about it but really we had never thought much about
having a camp here in Ecuador. Later
we received a call from her son asking us if we would like to see the
farm they were talking about and so we said, "sure"!
What we saw was a beautiful piece of land sitting in the middle
of a valley with mountains all around us.
It is named "CHAUPISACHA" which is a Quichua Indian
word meaning "in the middle of the wilderness".
So in English you could call it "The Wilderness
Camp". Our nearest
neighbor is about 30 minutes walking distance & all around the
farm is a National Park.
On our way home from seeing
the farm, we were offered the farm for $12,000.00.
We told the man we would pray about it and went home.
The next day the owner came to us and said, "I talked to
my wife last night and if you would like the farm for a camp we will
let you have it for $6000.00. We
felt it was the Lord opening up a door for us so we accepted.
In the same time the man in Ohio heard about the camp, (for
which he had been praying), and he sent me a page out of his daily
journal showing when he started praying for the camp.
Not only did God answer the
prayer of one of his children, He even prepared a way for us to pay
for the camp in just three months.
Only the God we serve can do something like this.
And how has this affected the lives of our Ecuadorian brothers
and sisters in Christ? This
has had a great impact on the lives of a number of them as they have
seen how God can work things out according to His will and provide
whatever is needed whether it is money, land, buildings, etc.
A great lesson in faith has been exercised here!! The camp is
rustic and needs lots of work so now all we have to do is clean the
land, put up some dorms, and watch God touch the lives of each one
passing through the camp. If you are looking for a project, or have a
mission group looking for something to do we would love to have you
come and help us with this new ministry God has given to us.
Yours
for Souls
Ernie
and Monoka Brown
