Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,                                                                         April – August 2006

Greetings in the name of our Lord! Many things have happened since we last wrote, I would like to share with you a few of these and how the Lord has been working here in Brazil.
The month of April was a very difficult one for us and the church. We had three funerals. One of these was the funeral of Celia. She was a faithful church member who was a great testimony, happy, responsible for our ladies Senior Saints ministry, someone who loved and lived our Lord. She lost a battle with liver cancer on April 8 and left a huge hole in our church and in our hearts. God used this trying time to open the door to share the gospel with over 400 people; in two memorial services. Many public school officials were present at these services, since Celia had been a former school director. Although no souls were saved through these services we praise the Lord for the seeds that were planted and watered and trust Him for fruit in the near future. Genivaldo’s brother was another funeral that month; two sisters and a sister-in-law accepted the Lord as a result of this tragic event. Praise the Lord for bringing good out of the bad.
In May, the congregation in Jacuípe celebrated its second anniversary and had its first two members added; one by letter and the other by the congregation’s first baptism. We also thank the Lord for the salvation of Edeleusa, her son Adilton, Monique and Fabricia a teen. Please continue to pray for the growth and spiritual maturity of the congregation in Jacuípe.
June 24, we had the privilege to ordain our first man, Guaraci, into the gospel ministry. That was a special day for the church and for us to see the first,  of hopefully many,  to confirm the Lord’s call upon his life thru the doctrinal examination and the laying on of hands. Please pray for Guaraci that the Lord will show him the place that He has for him to begin his church planting ministry.
For seven days in July we had the blessing to receive twenty five teens and teen leaders from the Hilltop Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA. They presented the gospel message through plays, gospel bracelets,  and testimonies, many children came to know the Lord as their Saviour. They were also a special blessing to our teenagers and church by their servant’s hearts and excitement about telling others about the Lord. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Pastor Ron Jaworski and the whole summer mission team, May God bless you. We would also like to extend an invitation to other youth groups or summer mission teams to come and visit us, share the gospel message and visit the mission field here in Northeastern Brazil.
August 6, the First Baptist Church in Arembepe added nine new members through baptism and many others are preparing to be baptized in the month of September. We thank the Lord for the many souls we have seen saved recently, many teens and young couples; we ask you to pray with us for their spiritual growth and strength against the pressures and temptations of the enemy. The month of August was also the start of a new semester in the Institute. Twenty three students will be studying this semester. This is the most students we have had and we are excited about how the Lord is calling people to full-time service in the church in Arembepe. Pray for us that we may have wisdom and guidance from the Lord as we teach and that the students will not only increase in Biblical knowledge but know our Lord better through this semester.
We want to say thank you to each of you who pray and give that we may serve our Lord here in Northeast Brazil . We believe that the work that the Lord is doing here is not only having results in the present but will have long lasting future and eternal results. May God bless each of you in a special way for your part in this work. We remain…
