Dear Fellow Laborers,

God answers prayer! As we mentioned in our last two letters, we have been waiting on the renewal of our visas in order to return to Mexico. God has answered prayer, and we now have our new visas. Thank you for praying with us in this matter. Again, God answers prayer!
By the time you receive this letter, we should be back on the field. Please pray with us, that we might quickly readjust to life on the field and continue forward in the work that the Lord has for us to do there. Also, any correspondance should be sent to the field address given below, not to the address which we used while on furlough. We have also discontinued our cellular phone service which we used while in the States. Our phone number in Mexico is 011-52(818) 383-5669. Please note that this has changed from what it used to be.
While on furlough, our hearts have been blessed by the reports of God's continued blessings on the works in Mexico. These secondhand reports are great, and give us an even greater desire to return to the field and personally participate in the work. The Lord willing, in our next letter we will be sharing with you the Lord's blessings that we will have experienced first-hand as we labor for Him, reaching the lost with the Gospel and discipling the believers. Please pray for us as we serve the Lord in Mexico.
Thank you for your faithful prayers on our behalf, and for those who are faithful to support us financially as well. It is only because of such faithfulness that we can remain on the field and do the Lord's work there. May God richly bless you for your faithfulness to Him, and to us His servants.

In Christ,

  The Bitners

Dear Fellow Laborers,

Here lately I have felt a little like the man who prayed that the Lord would give him patience -- NOW!! As you know, we were expecting to be back in Mexico by now. However, due to delays in the renewal of our visas, we are still waiting. For us, the worst part was finding out that our papers sat in the immigration office in Monterrey for three weeks before being sent to Mexico City to be processed. We are hoping to receive our new visas soon so that we might return to the field shortly after the first of June. Please pray with us about this matter. Humanly speaking, we wish that we were already back on the field, but God does things in His time and not in ours. We know that He will get us there in His time and that in the mean while, we must wait upon Him and learn patience.

We continue to receive good reports from the works in Mexico. Souls are being saved, believers are growing in grace, and the churches are growing numerically as well. Plans are underway for the graduation of the Bible Institute the first part of June. Please continue to pray with us for the works in Mexico, that the Lord would continue to richly bless.

Things are beginning to get tough economically in Mexico. This translates into a higher cost of living, and because of a strong peso, higher costs for us also. Just two examples will suffice to illustrate this. The Mexican government has ended its subsidy of the generation of electricity. This has resulted in a doubling of the price of electricity for the consumer. Also, we learned that the rent on our house is going to increase by about $100 starting in June. The annual inflation rate continues to run at about 14%. If things continue on their present course, many fear that Mexico is setting itself up for an economic crisis similar to that which happened in Argentina.

God has been faithful to us and has always supplied all of our needs. We have no doubt that He will continue to do so. We also recognize that He does so through the generosity, prayers and sacrificial giving of Ids people. We thank God for each of you who are so faithful to pray for us, and for those who give so that we might continue to do the work that the Lord has for us to do in Mexico. Our prayer is that the Lord would richly bless each of you.

In His Service,

The Bitners

March 2001

Dear Fellow Laborers,

It seems incredible that we have already completed our first month of furlough. As expected, this has been a very busy time in getting new pictures and prayer cards, and in beginning to make appointments. The Lord has blessed, and we have a fairly full schedule from now until the middle of May. We are now beginning to try and fill up the summer and next fall. Please pray with us, that the Lord would allow us to report to as many of our supporting churches as possible, and that we may be able to get into new churches and raise the additional support that we need.
The Lord is continuing to bless the Bethesda Baptist Church in Monterrey. Of course, the devil is also fighting. Please continue to pray for the church and for the Danny Jones family who are working there.
The Lord is also continuing to bless the Bethesda Baptist Bible Institute. There continues to be about ten students enrolled. Please continue to pray for these men and women who are preparing their lives to better serve the Lord.
I am enclosing our new pictures with this prayer letter. Once again we wish to thank each of you who are so faithful to pray for us, and for those who support us financially as well. Without this, we could not do the Lord's work. May God continue to richly bless each of you for your faithfulness to Him and to us His servants.
