June 24, 2008 Greetings From Mexico, The arrival of summer here in Monterrey can best be summed up in one word - HOT! The high temperature is in the mid 90's to 100, and the overnight low in the mid 70's. The humidity can make it feel even more uncomfortable at times. The greatest problem lately has been the lack of rain. We have been in a drought situation since last October, which was the last time that we got any significant rainfall. This year, as far as the weather is concerned, reminds me a lot of the first year that we were here in Mexico. I hope that it is not like that time, for we went through a seven-year drought and the water rationing that goes along with it. Please pray with us, that the Lord send us much needed rain. The weather may be in a state of drought, but we are enjoying "showers of blessing" in the work here. The month of May was the annual growth campaign in the Sunday School of the Bethesda Fundamental Baptist Church. Our goal was to have 400 in Sunday School. The first Sunday was a cool, damp, foggy day and we fell short of the goal for that day. However, the next weeks were better and the attendance began to improve. On the final Sunday, the attendance was 394. Although we did not reach the goal of 400, this still represented the highest attendance that the church has ever had! Praise the Lord for the way that He blessed during this campaign. Please pray with us, that the growth would continue as souls are won for Christ and new believers are discipled. Please pray for the church with regards to the construction of the new building. We are still going through all the bureaucracy in order to get the necessary construction permits. This process is going slowly but surely. Please pray with us, that we may soon obtain these permits and that the Lord would provide the funds for the construction. The Lord is also continuing to bless in the Bethesda Fundamental Baptist Institute. We have had an average of between 12 and 15 students in the classes this semester. We will have two that will be graduating from the Institute in August. Please continue to pray for our Institute students. Pray for us also as we make plans for next fall's semester, and the plans for the graduation in August. We would ask you to pray also for Timothy and his studies. He will begin his senior year in high school in September. Pray for him, that he would make the correct decisions as to what he will do after completing high school. Please continue to pray for Bonnie also as she will once more be doing the double roll of mom and teacher. It's hard to believe that we have been back on the field for a year following our last furlough. The time has literally flown by. We know that part of the reason is that we have been very busy, but that's ok and that's the reason that we are here. As we do the Lord's work here in Monterrey, we are very much aware that you are a vital part of our ministry. It is only through your faithful prayers and your generous giving that we can continue to do His work. May God richly bless each of you for your faithfulness to Him, and to us His servants.
